No plan survives contact with the enemy. And by “enemy”, I mean “playtesters at the Galway Game Devs meetup” :D
So, yeah. I got a lot of feedback on the UX side of things. To fix that, I’ve added a few things:
- The player can turn on a torch (default button: N). This makes it easier to see what you’re doing, but that makes you easier to see. Risk…vs utility.
- Player equipment (night vision goggles or a gas mask, a fleece or body armour, boots or running shoes or padded shoes). I will be locking these behind “achievements” in the full game, so enjoy them while you can!
- There’s now a map! The default button is M. All maps are hand-drawn by yours truly.
I’ve also added NPC and scenery models. I made the NPCs using a mix of Makehuman, Blender and Krita; there’s one glitch where one specific unit doesn’t play their walking animation, but that’s purely cosmetic. They at least die when you stab them.
The scenery is taken from loafbrr’s Modular Sewer Set. Worth paying for!
Anyway, give it a try and let me know what you think!
